Zeus

We just got a 2 month old Bengal kitten. His name is Zeus but we call him Zsu Zsu (It's a Wonderful Life) for short. Nathan and I have been wanting a Bengal for a while now. We thought we'd wait until the kids are older so they could pick one out, but then we realized we'd be waiting like 10 years. Since Daisy (my fire point Persian) died a few months ago, we figured we could go ahead and get a kitten now.
He is very sweet, but VERY vocal. He meows all the time. I'm hoping it's just because he's new here and learning his way around and getting used to us. He's a total lap cat though and loves to snuggle.
Zoey, our Bombay other cat, is just barely tolerating him. She hasn't warmed up yet, but I'm hoping she will soon.
Bengal's have a leopard like coat. His rosettes, as their called, will get darker and more defined as he gets older.

Here's what an older Bengal looks like:

Oh my goodness! That is the cutest baby! He and Zoey will be fine. Whenever Zeus is around Zoey, play with her with her toys and give her attention and treats. Over time, she will associate positive things with Zeus. If she bats at him and hisses, let her. Hissing means "go away" yet growling means "I am going to kick your butt if you do not go away." As long as she is not rough with the new kitten, all will be okay. She just needs to establish dominance. Zoey is upset because 1: cats do not like change and 2: she worried her humans and food source will be taken away. Just reassure them both through positive reinforcement and over time, they will adjust.

I have 14 year old persian and I love her to death but I miss the kitten stage!

Thank you!
I think Zoey is starting to warm up to him already. She hasn't hissed at him lately, but still runs away when Zsu comes up to her. You're right, I'm sure Zoey will adjust!

Awww... I love persians!! Mine had some sort of kidney problem there at the end. She had lost control of her bladder and stopped eating/drinking. It all happened very fast, she was only 10. :(

That's the hard part about having pets... having to say goodbye when it's time!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I my SukkiCat (a black and white rescue) to Lymphoma in 2007. The doctor thought it was a liver infection but it was cancer. One day, Sukki was not eating right. It looked like she was eating out of the side of her mouth. I thought she might of have a tooth abscess so I took her to the vet. The vet thought it might be fatty liver disease (usually common in big kitties. She was 13 pounds). After 30 days or less of antibiotics, Sukki was not getting better and we took her to a specialist. After an ultrasound and bloodwork, the specialist suspected cancer and then tests confirmed it. Sukki was not eating and losing weight fast. She was hiding in our basement a lot. Sukki had only one chemo treatment and she declined fast. My husband and I had to put her to sleep. Sukki was only 11. I never knew my husband of 11 years (11 years in 2007), could cry that much. We were heartbroken. I couldn't eat for days afterwards. I must have lost 5 pounds. I miss Sukki three years later. It gets better but the loss is always there. My mom told me, "We never get over a loss, we get *through* it."

I still have my Misty and she seems very healthy. She has to take a 1/2 pill of atenolol everyday but other than that, she is great.

Again, enjoy the kitten years! I love their little "jelly bean" toes. Cute!
