New Shoes

I just had to post a quick pic of these Aldo shoes I just bought. These are mainly for my sister-in-law's wedding in September. I'm the maid of honor and the bridal party is all wearing nude pumps. But I will totally get use out of these for other occasions also!

They were $90 on the Aldo website, I had them in my cart ready to check out and was getting my credit card when... POOF! They sold out!!!!!! I was SO pissed!!!
So I did a frantic google search and found them on 6pm. I already know and love this website, so I knew it was legit. They had the exact ones for $54!! I got them as fast as I could, and got the LAST pair!! They were then sold out!! It was meant to be!! :)

I like these so much I'm considering getting them in black also. I love Aldo!

Introducing Leo

I can't believe I lost two cats last year... :(

Anyway, this is a happy post! I'm introducing our new Bengal, Leo. We waited a long time for him, we wanted to save our money and make sure we were making a good decision and getting what we were paying for.
He's amazing! His mother and father are both top winning show cats. In fact, his father is the Supreme Grand Champion (3x) brown bengal. His mom has placed top in a lot of categories also.

I'm usually a huge advocate for rescuing animals. In fact, this is the first pet I've owned that I haven't rescued. I feel guilty for it in part, but this will be our only animal that we'll ever own that is not rescued.

He is very, very wild. I mean, out of control wild. Bengals are bread from actual leopards, and he definitely lets you know it! He jumps really high, meows a lot, and attacks and plays constantly. He also loves playing in water. He spills all the water out of his bowl to play in it and he's always jumping in the bath when there's water. He is also always at the sink. He's so fun but a lot of work! I have to keep his nails trimmed like every day or else he'll cut you and it hurts!

Here are some pics: These were taken when he was 14 weeks old.

Here he is trying to make friends with my super sweet 5 year old cat, Zoey:

Little Kitten Bows

A couple weeks ago I started making bows for babies and little girls. It's been so fun and I'm really happy with the way they've turned out! I'm actually pretty disappointed with the bows in stores, they're really boring and not that cute!
I just thought I'd post some pictures of what I've done so far. I've made a lot of the classic bows, with and without tails. I've also made the double layer classic bows. This past weekend I started making boutique style bows which are a bit more complicated and involve some sewing, but they're super cute.

New Year's Goals

It's a new year, therefore it feels like a great time to set some goals for myself for the year. I hate calling them resolutions, because it feels so futile. A goal is something that will push me to reach it.

1) Cook more. Nathan and I don't eat a whole lot of the same stuff. He is very picky with what he eats and so am I. We usually just make ourselves our own thing for dinner. But now that the babies are getting older, we are all starting to eat dinner as a family. I'd love to be able to cook a meal and share it with my whole family. I actually enjoy cooking, especially if someone will benefit from it.

2) Continue to stay healthy, but eat less sweets. I've been pretty good about eating right and exercising. I lost all my baby weight and then some, and have been able to maintain, give or take a few pounds. The last couple of years I've found some staples of organic foods that I love. What I would like to do is eat less sugar and drink more water. I am horrible at drinking water, I just hate it. But I've seen the benefits of it when I do drink it. I'm also a sugaraholic. I love all sugar. I need to eat less of it!!!! This will be so hard!

3) Get the babies out more/let people babysit more often. Now that they are older, and the weather is cold right now, I'd like to get the babies out of this house more. I want to do more play dates, drop them off with family, take them to Gymboree, etc. They need to be in an environment other than their house, and be with adults other than mommy and daddy. It's good for them. Even though it's so hard for me to ask for others to help, I know how beneficial it is for them.

4) Dance at least once every couple weeks. I love dancing. Always have and always will. I used to go dancing ALL the time, and for hours! Obviously, I don't get out as much as I used to now with the twins, but it's a whole lot easier now that they're older. Nathan is so good about letting me get out and do things whenever I want or need to. The problem is that I'm usually too tired. But once I do go out, I have so much fun and feel so revived! Seth (a dancer friend of mine) and I will be teaching another series of jive classes in March. I'm actually really looking forward to that. In the meantime, I want to try and get to heights again (a community center here that does swing) at least once every couple weeks. Even if I go out and booty dance with the girls, I'll count that a success!

5) Build my hobbies. I've been making hair flowers and they've been selling great here in Albuquerque. I just recently started making little bows for babies and little girls and those have already started selling. I just started that last week! I LOVE making them. It's so relaxing and fun and allows me to be creative. For my next hobby I'd really like to learn how to knit or crochet.

6) Last but not least, go to church every week and build my spirituality. I'll try not to sound preachy, but when I'm consistently going to church and talking to God, I feel great. I can't describe it. I just feel like myself and at peace. I feel centered and anchored in this crazy world that I live in. It's very "zen" for me. When I pray, I can physically feel the burden lifting off my shoulders. I know religion or spirituality is not for everyone, but it is definitely for me. The church I go to is awesome and I've known the pastor since I was in middle school. I really look up to him and think of him more as a mentor than a pastor. In fact, I met Nathan through him. He's not like other pastors when it comes to sermons. He's VERY relate-able and uses current time and situations and funny stories to teach lessons. Not to mention, the childcare there is great. They have the best children center and teachers. Lyla has a blast playing with the other kids and with new toys. London cries when we leave, but I know it's good for him to be around other people and environments (even though it's VERY hard for me to leave him when he's crying!).

So I guess that's all I can think of for now. It's nice to have them written down so I can visually see it and remind myself of what I want to do this year.
Happy New Year everyone, I hope it's a great year for you!!!!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

We have been VERY busy this week. Nathan took this week and next as vacation, and his brother is in town so we have been going 100 mph to different events. It's been so fun!
A quick recap on the past two days: Yesterday morning we made sugar cookies at Nathan's aunt's house with the babies (Lyla LOVED it and London just wanted to be left alone with his toys). Last night I cooked a Christmas Eve Eve dinner which consisted of Tater Tot Casserole, corn, organic spinach salad, and french wine. It was delicious!
This afternoon we went to a Christmas Eve service at our church. Lyla had a great time in the childcare, but London was screaming his face off when we came to pick him up. :( I think being in childcare is just something he'll get used to over time.
Tonight we are going to Nathan's family's Christmas Eve dinner of pizza and posole. Tomorrow my family is coming over bright and early to exchange gifts, and then we are having brunch and exchanging gifts with Nathan's family. Then there is a Christmas dinner tomorrow night at Nathan's mom's house.
I'll actually be really sad when Christmas is over! But on the 28th is my sister-in-law's birthday which will be really fun. Then on the 29th, I have MY BIRTHDAY!! It's going to rock this year! We're having a big party at my sister's house. Complete with a fondue dinner and dessert, followed by dancing to Just Dance on the Wii. That game is SO fun! I can't wait!
Then of course there's New Years! We're going to this bash at the Q Bar that should be really awesome. I have a sexy purple dress I've been waiting to have a use for, so out of the closet it comes! Plus, my mother-in-law offered to stay the night with the babies! Yay for a night off! :)

Happy Holidays everyone!

My New Favorite Foundation

My mom is a genius when it comes to finding amazing makeup. And she's always giving me new things to try. She recently gave me L'Oreal's Visible Lift Serum Absolute Foundation (whew that's a mouthful). It's ~$12-$15. This foundation is awesome! I think it's probably meant for older women that have more visible or deeper lines and wrinkles. But I have fine lines around my mouth and eyes that I hate, and this foundation really smooths out the lines to make them so much less visible. It also gives full coverage, but doesn't look all cakey or heavy so that's really nice. It goes on light and smooth.
I went on L'Oreal's website to look at what other colors they offer because I really loved the foundation, but the one my mom bought me was too dark. They do this customizing thing where you go through a series of questions and at the end it tells you what shade probably works best for you. It told me my shade is Creamy Natural, so I went out and got it and it matches my skin exactly!

I liked the visible lift line so much that I also bought the visible lift under eye base, which is great too. It's $10.

Both products have SPF 20 which is really nice. And necessary for living in the desert!
After I put on the foundation, I set it with powder (another product my mom introduced me to). It's the Airspun translucent face powder. It's been around forever, and it's great for setting foundation. I think this is around $7.

Also, I forgot to mention that before I put on the foundation I prime my face with L'Oreal's Skin Genesis poor minimizing skin re-smoother. It's makes for a nice canvas for the foundation. It's about $20 for a small bottle, but it's worth it!

Now that I've found these products that I love, I'm sure they'll be discontinued any day now. I hate it when that happens! But for now I will enjoy them!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas!

I am soooooo excited for Christmas this year. I finally had to sit back and actually think why this is, and I figured it out!
Last year during this time I had infant babies and was severely lacking sleep. The year before last I was pregnant with twins and was so nauseous at the site and smell of everything. The year before that (2007) I had so much going on with moving into our new house, changing jobs, and everything else that I felt like a complete wack-a-doodle.
This year, I finally feel like my normal, cheerey, festive self! I can't wait for Christmas! I put up all my decor and even put up the trees (yes, plural) a week before Thanksgiving.
I can't wait for my little twinkies to be excited about their toys on Christmas morning.
It's amazing how much your perspective changes once you have kids. You start seeing the world through their eyes. The eyes of a child. It's magical!
We're taking the twinks to see Santa tomorrow. It'll make for a cute picture, but I have a feeling that they'll cry!
Happy December!
