New (Old) Purses!

I was browsing the antique mall when I came upon these purses. I knew they were going to be pricey, but I asked to look at them anyway. I drool over purses, especially Dorset-Rex. Purrrrrrrrr.

So the first one is this little pink straw purse. The lady said the top part is lucite, but I have my suspicions. Still it's adorable and in really good condition. The inside pink satin looks great. No tag, just says made in Italy. The price said $55 firm. I asked her if the price was negotiable, and she said "Well seems like your lucky day. This is my booth and I wasn't even going to come in today. So I guess you can make me an offer." I knew I wanted to look at the other purses and then offer her something for all the ones I wanted.

The next is this Dorset-Rex. The price said $125. It's in good condition, the inside has some age spots though, like mold spots or something. Still the outside looks great, no scratches on the top.

And lastly, another Dorset-Rex. It's price was $85. Good condition, except one minor scratch on the lid. However, the whole lining is coming undone. Pretty easy to fix though.

So all three of these was $265. I offered her $150 (I knew it was ridiculously low, but I thought I'd give it a try) and she came back at $175! I think that's a great deal for these three! :):):)

My Wish List

It's a new day, and although I'm still sad about Zeus (the breeder is giving our money back, by the way) it's time to move ahead and think about things that make me happy. Things I want! :)

The shoes are soooo cute and they are on sale like half off at Kohl's!

I also LOVE these shoes but they're a bit too pricey for my liking. That's why this is my "wish" list. They're sold out anyway. Pinup Girl Clothing:

I'm not a fan of repro, but this sailor dress is SO cute! This is also from pinup girl clothing:

I desperately need some coasters and I just haven't gotten any yet. I was thinking maybe about these:

I saw these cupcake pajamas on 30 Rock when Liz wears them and I though they were so cute:

And they also sell cherry ones!!

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. :)

What a Terrible Day :(

I noticed the past couple of days that Zeus has been really lethargic. I called the vet and asked if I should bring him in. They said to give him some wet food with his dry food and see if he eats more and keep watch of him. So I bought wet food and sure enough he was eating it and drinking water. But he we still just soooo lethargic and walking funny. He was hardly meowing and just seemed like depressed or something. So this morning, I found him laying against the wall in a weird position and I thought, that doesn't look right. So I picked him up and he started having a seizure. :(
I called my mom and she came over to watch the babies and I took off to the vet, no makeup, hair not done, nothing. I barely remembered to change out of my pajamas.
The doctor said he was critical and that he's become hypoglycemic. Basically he was freezing. His body temp was 94 degrees (should be close to 100), and his glucose level wouldn't even show on their machine it was so low. They had him on hot water bottles and were giving him sugar water. He was starting to come around and then just like that, he was gone.
I feel horrible. This is the second cat I've lost in a year. I only had Zeus two weeks, but I grow attached to animals really fast.
The doctor said that he was not 2 months old like the breeder said, but that he was closer to 5 weeks and had possibly not been weaned from his mother yet. :( But she said even so, he should've been fine eating kitten chow. She thinks there was definitely more of a problem, possibly with his liver or the way he processes sugar.
I'm so sad. He was such a sweet kitty and I wish he didn't have to go.
Ugh, I just can't believe it!
And to top it all off, come to find out the breeder we got him from is not registered. So he's basically breeding illegally. We're going to see if we can report him to animal humane.
Sorry to be such a debbie downer. :(

Smoothieaholic

I love fruit smoothies. I started making them soon after I had the twins, to help me lose some baby weight. I mainly made them just to have something healthy to fill me up in between meals so I wasn't snacking on junk food all day.
Well, I lost the baby weight and then some (not just by drinking smoothies... I wish!), but now I'm totally hooked. I make them every single day. I vary the ingredients day to day, but it always involves the Yoplait Smoothie pack, additional fresh organic frozen fruit, organic skim milk, splenda, almonds (my protein since I don't eat meat(except chicken on rare occasion)), and sometimes fat free yogurt, and an extra scoop of protein. Oh and I add about a spoonful of tasteless fiber - this really helps fill you up.

Today I made a berry smoothie which consisted of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, black berries, and dark pitted cherries. Yummy!!!

I pour it into this 34oz mug. Yup, that's a lot of smoothie. I basically sip on it all day. I was spending way too much money on styrofoam cups, but it took me forever to find a 34oz insulated mug! I finally found one in the clearance section of Walgreens, go figure.

I love how healthy these make me feel, and I have a lot more energy than I would if I were snacking on junk food instead. I <3 my smoothies!

Pin-Up Kitten Boutique

My sister contacted me about an Expo she's doing. Well, the person heading up the expo was short about 3 vendors, so Dana asked me if there's anything I could make and sell or if I had any vintage to sell. Well indeed I do. I've made hair flowers for myself in the past, so I can make some of those. But I have a lot of vintage I need to sell and haven't had the chance to get it on Ebay or Etsy.
So the lady heading up this whole thing asked me if I had a logo for my "business" to contribute to her flyer. So to have a logo, you obviously have to name yourself.
I decided I'd call myself Pin-Up Kitten Boutique. Here's the logo:

I think it's soooo cute!!
Dana helped me with the concept/lettering and Nathan basically did all the design work. He worked on it a long time. I just told him what I want, colors, and placement, etc. He's an expert when it comes to all things graphic/photoshop. I'd say I'm good at that stuff, but not as good as him that's for sure!

I'll have a little booth set up and see what I might be able to sell. This could be fun, and who knows I might turn it into my own little business! lol... I know how much work an actual business takes, and I'm just not sure I have the time or energy for something like that. But things like this expo every now and then could be fun!
It's in a couple weeks, I'm sure I'll have pictures to post.

Kitty of Past and Kitty of Present

I might as well keep with all the other cat posts of today! I too am a "crazy cat lady" even though I only have two. :) My hubby and I are both cat people, so that's nice. We both had dogs and cats growing up, but he left for the Navy for 6 years and when he came back he was deathly allergic to dogs. So, we'll probably always just have cats, even though I really love all animals.

This was Daisy. She was my fire point Persian. She was very sweet, and a scardy cat of most things.

She loved to be brushed and whenever I'd lay down, she'd run over to "spoon".

We went to a baseball game, and this was a picture I took of Daisy wearing the ice cream hat bowl that we got:

And here she is in my house in San Diego:

A few months ago I noticed she had started peeing in random spots in the house. I thought this was very weird behavior since she had never done that before. She's always been litter box trained. Then I started to notice that she wasn't eating her cat food and seemed a lot more lethargic than normal. By the time I had really begun to notice there was a problem (maybe two weeks of this going on) I made an appointment with the vet. The day of her vet appointment, I woke up, came out to the kitchen to prepare bottles and I noticed her curled up in a corner. I said "Hi, Daisy", and she usually would look up at me when I spoke to her but she didn't. So I walked over to her to pet her head and instantly knew. She had passed. She looked so peaceful, just like she was sleeping. I sat on the floor by her and cried. I felt awful. I felt like I hadn't taken her to the vet soon enough. I felt like I should've known it was as bad as it was. I felt like I hadn't given her as much attention as I should have since the babies came. I was riddled with guilt. Even as I type this now, my heart still aches for her. I'm just glad she went quickly and she didn't seem like she was in any pain there at the end.
I'll miss her forever. She was only 10.

On a happier note, this is Zoey, our Bombay that we rescued in Washington when we lived there. She's 5 years old. She is very sweet and doesn't meow, but does a sort of "chirp" sound. She is a total lap cat, and loves to drink water out of the sink faucet. Typical of Bombays, (they love to be hot) she also loves to bury herself deep under covers to sleep. This used to scare me to death when she was kitten, I was worried she wasn't getting enough air!

Here was Zoey trying out the new stroller last year:

She loves her red blanket!

Sticking her tongue out at me:
